Advantages:
Since the ampere turns are supplied at all slip frequencies, the lagging kVA drawn by the motors are reduced considerably.
Phase advancers can be used conveniently where the usage of synchronous motors is not possible.
Disadvantage:
Phase advancers are not economical for motors below 200 H.P.
