Definition of "Apparent Power" |
The apparent power of an alternating current circuit is the product of the rms values of the voltage and the current. [Unit: volt-ampere or VA] / That power apparently available for use in an ac circuit containing a reactive element. It is the product of effective voltage times effective current expressed in volt-amperes. It must be multiplied by the power factor to obtain true power available.
