Rejects or attenuates frequencies that are either higher or lower than the desired band of frequencies. A filter that ideally passes all frequencies between two non-zero finite limits and bars all frequencies not within the limits. The cutoff frequencies are normally taken to be the 3-dB points. / A bandpass filter is a device that passes frequencies within a certain range and rejects frequencies outside that range. / Fault indicator is a device which provides visual or remote indication of a fault on the electric power system.
