Definition of "common drain amplifier" |
(1) a single transistor FET amplifier in which the input signal is applied to the gate terminal, the output is taken from the source terminal, and the drain terminal is connected to a constant voltage. Also referred to as a source follower, since the voltage gain of this configuration is close to unity (the source voltage “follows” the gate voltage). |
