Definition of "DIP Switch" |
A switch using a Dual In-Line Package. A style of board-mount switch that has two rows of terminals running on two sides of the component. Normally used or associated with switches that could use the same pin pattern as a DIP IC, that is a DIP IC could be removed from a board or socket and a DIP switch inserted in its place. Read more on DIP Switches. / DIP switch is a manual electric switch that is packaged with others in a group in a standard dual in-line package. / Five, as in five logic blocks or individual circuits within an integrated circuit package. Normally TTL style ICs have 4, 8, 16, or 32 individual components while ECL chips sometime have an odd number of circuits however the fifth is almost always a bias circuit. / set of micro-switches (on/off or deviators) that are compliant with the DIP for the position of their pin (connections); thus, they can be installed in standard sockets for integrated circuits. |
