Definition of "field effect transistor" |
(FET) a voltage controlled transistor in which the source to drain conduction is controlled by gate to source voltage. |
Definition of "Field-Effect Transistor" |
[FET] A transistor consisting of a source, a gate, and a drain. Current flow is controlled by the transverse electric field under the gate. A transistor in which the conduction is due entirely to the flow of majority carriers through a conduction channel controlled by an electric field arising from a voltage applied between the gate and source terminals. [FET Manufacturers] / Field-Effect Transistor a transistor in which most current is carried along a channel whose effective resistance can be controlled by a transverse electric field. / In general computer usage, logon is the procedure used to get access to an operating system or application, usually in a remote computer. Almost always a logon requires that the user have a user ID and a password. Often, the user ID must conform to a limited length such as eight characters and the password must contain at least one digit and not match a natural language word. The user ID can be freely known and is visible when entered at a keyboard or other input device. The password must be kept secret and is not displayed as it is entered. Some Web sites require users to register in order to use the site; registered users can then enter the site by logging on. |
