Definition of "free space loss" |
the propagation loss experienced between two isotropic antennas in a vacuum resulting from spreading of power over spherical wavefronts centered at the transmitting antenna and from the finite aperture of the receiving antenna. The free space loss increases proportional to the square of the distance from the antenna and the square of the frequency. |
