Definition of "Galvanic Isolation" |
Galvanic isolation is a design technique that separates electrical circuits to eliminate stray currents. Signals can pass between galvanically isolated circuits, but stray currents, such as differences in ground potential or currents induced by AC power, are blocked. See: Maxim's isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers. / The separation in movement of charge-carrying particles from one section to another. A current moving in one section of a circuit does not flow in another section of the circuit.
