Definition of "helical antenna" |
a wire antenna that is helical in shape. Typically, the helical antenna is fed by a coaxial cable, the outer conductor of which is connected to a ground plane and the inner conductor of which protrudes through the ground plane and is shaped in the form of a helix. Since a helical antenna emits an elliptically polarized wave when operating in axial mode, it is often used in satellite communication applications. |
