Definition of "impulse response" |
Behaviour of a circuit when the excitation is the unit impulse function. The excitation function may be a voltage or a current. / In signal processing, the impulse response, or impulse response function, of a dynamic system is its output when presented with a brief input signal, called an impulse. More generally, an impulse response refers to the reaction of any dynamic system in response to some external change. In both cases, the impulse response describes the reaction of the system as a function of time or possibly as a function of some other independent variable that parameterizes the dynamic behavior of the system. / The zero power resistance is the DC resistance value of a thermistor measured at a specified temperature with a power dissipation by the thermistor low enough that any further decrease in power will result in not more than 0. / the output of a linear time-invariant system when the input is a pulse of short time duration. The system can be entirely characterized by the impulse response. In the case of a continuous time system with input f(t), the impulse signal δ(t) is defined as |
