Definition of "Johnson Noise" |
Thermal Noise. / Johnson noise, or Nyquist noise is the electronic noise generated by the thermal agitation of the charge carriers usually the electrons inside an electrical conductor at equilibrium, which happens regardless of any applied voltage. The generic, statistical physical derivation of this noise is called the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, where generalized impedance or generalized susceptibility is used to characterize the medium. / Frequency-hopping spread spectrum is one of two basic modulation techniques used in spread spectrum signal transmission. It is the repeated switching of frequencies during radio transmission, often to minimize the effectiveness of "electronic warfare" - that is, the unauthorized interception or jamming of telecommunication. It also is known as frequency- hopping code division multiple access. / See thermal noise. |
