Definition of "K Band" |
An out-dated reference to a band of frequencies ranging between 18GHz and 27GHz. Older documents place the frequency range at 10,900MHz to 36,000MHz. The actual frequency range may differ between different organizations. Also refer to a list of Frequency Band Designations. / K band designates certain portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, in either the microwave domain or in the infrared domain. The microwave K bands are used primarily for radar and satellite communications while the infrared K band is used for astronomical observations. / High Definition Compatible Digital is a digital encoding and decoding process for compact disc and DVD audio recording. The HDCD process manages to encode 20 bits of audio information into a conventional CD 16-bit channel, yielding a greater dynamic range and a more true-to-life sound when decoded. HDCD was developed by Keith Johnson and Pflash Pflaumer between 1986 and 1991, and made publicly available in 1995. |
