Definition of "K-factor rating" |
an indication of a transformer’s capability to provide a specified amount of harmonic content in its load current without overheating. K-factor rated transformers typically use thinner laminations in the core to reduce the eddy current losses, larger conductors to reduce skin effect, and for three-phase transformers a larger neutral conductor to conduct zero-sequence harmonic currents. |
