Definition of "Lag" |
The angle delay between voltage signal and the corresponding current signal. / The relative time delay between two successive events. The amount one wave is behind another in time; expressed in electrical degrees. Also refer to Phase [Angle]. The difference in time between when a circuit or system transmits a signal and when the far end receives the signal. / The condition where the current is delayed in time with respect to the voltage in an ac circuit (for example, an inductive load). / In online gaming, lag is a noticeable delay between the action of players and the reaction of the server. Although lag may be caused by high latency, it may also occur due to insufficient processing power in the client and/or server. / (1) the inability of an imaging tube to respond to instantaneous changes in light. For measurement purposes, lag has two components: rise lag is the response time from dark to light, whereas decay lag is the response time from light to dark. Lag is a very shortterm effect, and should not be confused with image retention, image burn, or sticking. |
