Definition of "linear system" |
the systems in which the components exhibit linear characteristics, i.e., the principle of superposition applies. Strictly speaking, linear systems do not exist in practice; they are idealized models purely for the simplicity of theoretic analysis and design. However, the system is essentially linear when the magnitude of the signals in a control system are limited to a range in which the linear characteristics exist. |
