Definition of "Overvoltage" |
Similar to a surge but for a longer period of time, over 2.5 second. / A voltage that exceeds the normal or expected voltage found between two conductors. A voltage that has increased above a circuits design limits. Some complex ICs contain their own over-voltage fault detection circuits. In some cases these circuits are called Over-Voltage Protection [OVP] ICs. / When the voltage in a circuit or part of it is raised above its upper design limit, this is known as overvoltage. / A communication network is a collection of terminal nodes, links and any intermediate nodes which are connected so as to enable telecommunication between the terminals. The transmission links connect the nodes together. / a voltage having a value larger than the nominal voltage for a duration greater than 1 minute. |
