Definition of "Radio Horizon" |
The boundary beyond the natural horizon in which radio waves cannot be propagated over the surface of the earth. The locus of points at which direct rays from an antenna are tangential to the surface of the Earth. / the maximum range, from transmitter to receiver on Earth’s surface, of direct (line-of-sight) radio waves. This is greater than the optical horizon, because the radio waves follow a curved path as a result of the continuous refraction it undergoes in the atmosphere. |
