Definition of "Selectivity" |
The ability of a receiver to select the desired signal and reject unwanted signals. The ability of a receiver to discriminate against signals using a different carrier frequency than the one that has been tuned to. / Selectivity is a measure of the performance of a radio receiver to respond only to the radio signal it is tuned to such as a radio station and reject other signals nearby in frequency, such as another broadcast on an adjacent channel. / A hand-held mobile radiotelephone for use in an area divided into small sections, each with its own short-range transmitter/receiver. / (1) the ability of a receiver to receive only its desired band of frequencies and reject those on either side.
