Definition of "Slope Detector" |
A tank circuit tuned to a frequency, either slightly above or below an FM carrier frequency, that is used to detect intelligence. The slope detector works on the audio frequency changes in an FM signal providing a greater amplitude to higher frequencies than lower ones [the slope] the amplitude changes than become an amplitude modulated signal which could than be converted back to audio. / a circuit consisting of an LC tuned circuit, a detector diode, and a filter circuit that has an IF set to be on the most linear portion of the response curve. The circuit converts FM to AM by having the frequency changes from the FM signal cause the signals to move up and down the response curve which results in amplitude variations. |
