Definition of "Synchronous Counter" |
A counter with an output that only changes after receiving a clock pulse. Examples; 74F161 Binary Counter, 74F191 Decade Counter. Also see 54F192 Synchronous Counter details. / In synchronous counter, the clock inputs of all the flip-flops are connected together and are triggered by the input pulses. Thus, all the flip-flops change state simultaneously in parallel. The circuit below is a 4-bit synchronous counter. / Any storage medium in which different patterns of magnetization are used to represent stored bits or bytes of information; the hard disk in you computer is magnetic storage. |
