Texas Christian University, / A transmission control unit is a device that controls modern electronic automatic transmissions. A TCU generally uses sensors from the vehicle as well as data provided by the engine control unit to calculate how and when to change gears in the vehicle for optimum performance, fuel economy and shift quality. / Modulation is the addition of information to an electronic or optical signal carrier. Modulation can be applied to direct current , to alternating current, and to optical signals. One can think of blanket waving as a form of modulation used in smoke signal transmission . Morse code, invented for telegraphy and still used in amateur radio, uses a binary digital code similar to the code used by modern computers. |
