Definition of "Transmission Line" |
A device designed to guide electrical or electromagnetic energy from one point to another. A line used to transmit high-voltage electricity from the generation source or substation to another substation in the electric distribution system. The material medium or structure that forms all or part of a path from one place to another for directing the transmission of energy, such as electric currents, magnetic fields, acoustic waves, or electromagnetic waves. / In communications and electronic engineering, a transmission line is a specialized cable or other structure designed to carry alternating current of radio frequency, that is, currents with a frequency high enough that their wave nature must be taken into account.
