Definition of "traveling wave amplifier" |
the principle of traveling-wave amplification is a technique for increasing the gain-bandwidth product of an amplifier. The input and output capacitances of discrete transistors are combined with lumped inductors and form artificial transmission lines, coupled by the transductances of the devices. The amplifier can be designed to give a flat, lowpass response up to very high frequencies. Sometimes called a traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA). |
