Definition of "Voltage" |
(see potential difference). / The term used to signify electrical pressure. Voltage is a force that causes current to flow through an electrical conductor. The voltage of a circuit is the greatest effective difference of potential between any two conductors of the circuit. The effective (rms) potential difference between any two conductors or between a conductor and ground. / Voltage, is the electric energy charge difference of electric potential energy transported between two points. Voltage is equal to the work done per unit of charge against a static electric field to move the charge between two points. A voltage may represent either a source of energy (electromotive force), or lost, used, or stored energy (potential drop). / Voltage, electrical potential difference, electric tension or electric pressure denoted ∆V and measured in units of electric potential: volts, or joules per coulomb is the electric potential difference between two points, or the difference in electric potential energy of a unit charge transported between two points. / An electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts. / Terminal equipment that multiplexes 24 digitized voice channels at 64 Kbps onto a single T-1 Aggregate Link. |
