What is the difference between harmonics and transients?
Harmonics and transients both create distortion in sinusoidal wave. They both are responsible for deviation of sine wave from its actual form but the basic difference between them is that, harmonics tends to stay more in our system as compared to transients. Normally voltage transients stay for 50 micro second and current transients for 20 micro second.
Harmonics are created by non linear load where as transients are due to any kind of disturbance in our system. Each time you turn on/off a load in your home. You induce a transient in the system.
