Coarse Aggregates
Aggregates are the inert materials which when bound together by cement, will form concrete. Aggregates should comply with the requirements of IS 383. Aggregates used in India are the naturally occurring aggregates like sand, crushed rock and gravel. Qualities of aggregates 1. Good sand should have coarse and angular gains of pure silica. 2. The gains of sand should be hard, strong and durable. 3. It should be free from silt, clay or any such salt that may hamper setting or attack the reinforcement. 4. It should not contain any organic matter. 5. It should be well graded. | |
