A. Law of parallelogram of forces
If two forces acting simultaneously on a particle be represented by the two adjacent sides of a parallelogram in magnitude and direction, their resultant may he represented in magnitude. and direction by the diagonal of the parallelogram. Which passes through their point of intersection. B. Law of triangle of forces If two forces acting simultaneously on a particle be represented in magnitude and direction by the two sides of a triangle, taken in order, their resultant will he represented by the third side of the triangle taken in opposite order. C. Law of polygon of forces If a number of forces acting simultaneously on a particle be represented in magnitude and direction by the sides of a polygon, taken in order, the resultant of all these forces may be represented in magnitude and direction by the closing side of the polygon, taken in opposite order. D. Equilibrium of forces If the net effect of various forces acting on a body is zero and they do not reduce to a couple, then those forces are to be in equilibrium. | |
