Definition of "AM" |
Amplitude Modulation: A modulation method in which the carrier amplitude changes with the input signal amplitude. / Amplitude modulation, Ante Meridiem, Aeromexico, Anti Meridian (Before Noon), / Amplitude modulation is a method of impressing data onto an alternating current (AC) carrier waveform in which the carrier amplitude changes with the input signal amplitude. / Amplitude modulation is a modulation technique used in electronic communication, most commonly for transmitting information via a radio carrier wave. Amplitude modulation works by varying the strength of the carrier in proportion to the waveform being sent. That waveform may, for instance, correspond to the sounds to be reproduced by a loudspeaker, or the light intensity of television pixels. This contrasts with frequency modulation, in which the frequency of the carrier signal is varied, and phase modulation, in which its phase is varied, by the modulating signal. / Armature rotor generally refers to one of the two principle electrical components of an electromechanical machine generally in a motor or generator but it may also mean the pole piece of a permanent magnet or electromagnet, or the moving iron part of a solenoid or relay. / Abbreviation for amplitude modulation |
