Definition of "Beam" |
A column of light. The main lobe of an antenna radiation pattern. Also refer to the section covering Antenna Terms. / Beam a narrow beam of radio signals transmitted by a radio or radar beacon, radio telescope, or some other directional aerial, used for communications, navigation, etc. / A beam is a structural element that is capable of withstanding load primarily by resisting bending. The bending force induced into the material of the beam as a result of the external loads, own weight, span and external reactions to these loads is called a bending moment. / The fundamental frequency, often referred to simply as the fundamental, is defined as the lowest frequency of a periodic waveform.
