Definition of "Bridge Circuit" |
A circuit used for electrical measurements. A Wheatstone Bridge is shown as a example of one of a number of different bridge styles. The Wheatstone Bridge is used to measure an unknown resistance, Rx. One branch of the bridge needs to be adjustable, in this case R2. Wheatstone Bridge circuit Bridge-T Network. A three element impedance network in the shape of a 'T', that uses a forth impedance element in parallel with the two elements forming the top of the 'T'. Also refer to Passive Filter Definition. / Bridge circuit is a type of electrical circuit in which two circuit branches, usually in parallel with each other are bridged by a third branch connected between the first two branches at some intermediate point along them. The bridge was originally developed for laboratory measurement purposes and one of the intermediate bridging points is often adjustable when so used. Bridge circuits now find many applications, both linear and non-linear, including in instrumentation, filtering and power conversion. / A hierarchical computer network in which processing and control functions are performed at several levels by computers specially suited for the functions performed, such as industrial process control, inventory control, database control, or hospital automation. / the circuit that includes four lateral impedances, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, a diagonal impedance Zo, and a voltage source Eg of the output impedance Zg is an example of the so-called bridge circuit. This and other similar circuits are characterized by the bridge balance condition, which represents a relationship between the bridge elements when the current in the diagonal impedance is absent (in the case shown this condition is Z1Z3 = Z2Z4). The bridge circuits find application in instrumentation and transducers. |
