Definition of "Capacitive Level Sensor" |
A capacitive level sensor is used to measure the level of liquid or bulk solids in a bin or container. It consists of a probe tip (transmitter) and receiver, isolated from each other by a non conductive insulator. As the level of the of the bin rises above the level of the sensor, the dielectric constant surrounding the sensor changes, resulting in a change in the capacitance, measured between the probe and the receiver via RF signal current. |
