Definition of "Center Frequency" |
In frequency modulation, the rest frequency, i.e., the frequency of the unmodulated carrier. The average frequency of a signal when modulated by a symmetrical signal. / The center or reference point for describing a bandpass filter's characteristics - including passband and rejection. / The long-term stability of an oscillator, the degree of uniformity of frequency over time, when the frequency is measured under identical environmental conditions, such as supply voltage, load, and temperature. Long-term frequency changes are caused by changes in the oscillator elements that determine frequency, such as crystal drift, inductance changes, and capacitance changes. / (1) the frequency of maximum or minimum response for a bandpass or a bandstop filter, respectively; often taken as the geometric mean of the lower and upper cutoff frequencies. |
