Definition of "certainty equivalence principle" |
a design method in which the uncertainties of process parameters are not considered. Found in selftuning regulators where the controller parameters or the process parameters are estimated in real-time and are then used to design the controller as if they were equal to the true parameters. Although many estimation methods could provide estimates of parameter uncertainties, these are typically not used in the control design. |
