Definition of "congestion" |
In data networking and queueing theory, network congestion occurs when a link or node is carrying so much data that its quality of service deteriorates. Typical effects include queueing delay, packet loss or the blocking of new connections. A consequence of these latter two is that an incremental increase in offered load leads either only to a small increase in network throughput, or to an actual reduction in network throughput. / A flow control configuration in which the valve is located at the outlet of the actuator. / a state of a packet-based system where too many packets are present in the network and the overall performance degrades. To resolve the congestion, the system must employ some form of congestion control. |
