A character that initiates, modifies, or stops a function, event, operation, or control operation. / In computing and telecommunication, a control character or non-printing character is a code point a number in a character set, that does not in itself represent a written symbol. It is in-band signaling in the context of character encoding. / In signal processing, control theory, electronics, and mathematics, overshoot is when a signal or function exceeds its target. It arises especially in the step response of bandlimited systems such as low-pass filters. It is often followed by ringing, and at times conflated with this latter. |
