Definition of "Counterpoise" |
A network of wire connected to a quarter-wave antenna at one end. The network provides the equivalent of an additional one-fourth wavelength. / Counterpoise is a network of suspended wires or cables or a metal screen, used as a substitute for an earth connection in a radio antenna system. / With digital storage oscilloscopes, the record length determines the number of samples that are measured. All these samples can be measured after the trigger has occurred. It is however possible to measure a part of the record before the trigger occurs, by selecting pre samples. / a ground wire buried beneath an overhead line to lower footing impedance. |
