Definition of "Drum-Type Armature" |
A type of armature designed so that the entire length of the winding is cutting the field at all times. Most wound armatures are of this type. / Drum-Type Armature the armature windings are placed in slots cut in a drum-shaped iron core. Each winding completely surrounds the core so that the entire length of the conductor cuts the main magnetic field. Therefore, the total voltage induced in the armature is greater than in the Gramme-ring. / In electrical engineering, spikes are fast, short duration electrical transients in voltage the voltage spikes, current the current spikes, or transferred energy the energy spikes in an electrical circuit. |
