Exchange Carrier Standards Association was created in 1983 with the mission to promote the timely resolution of national and international issues involving telecommunication standards and the development of operation guidelines.In October 1993, ECSA was renamed the Alliance for telecommunication Industry Solutions and its membership was expanded to include all domestic providers of telecommunication services with a plant investment in transport and/or switching equipment. / EDGE is a digital mobile phone technology that allows improved data transmission rates as a backward-compatible extension of GSM. EDGE is considered a pre-3G radio technology and is part of ITU's 3G definition. EDGE was deployed on GSM networks beginning in 2003 – initially by Cingular now AT&T in the United States. |
