Definition of "excitation" |
The addition of energy to a nucleus, an atom or a molecule transferring it from its ground state to a higher energy level. The excitation is the difference in energy between the ground state and the excited state. / An electric generator or electric motor consists of a rotor spinning in a magnetic field.
