Definition of "hidden Markov model (HMM)" |
a discrete-time, discrete-space dynamical system governed by a Markov chain that emits a sequence of observable outputs, usually one output (observation) for each state in a trajectory of such states. More formally, a HMM is a five-tuple (Ωx,Ωo,A,B, π), where Ωx is a finite set of possible states, Ωo is a finite set of possible observations, A is a set of transition probabilities, B is a set of observation probabilities, and π is an initial state distribution. |
