Definition of "Megahertz" |
Megahertz, is a unit of alternating current or electromagnetic wave frequency equal to one million hertz. The megahertz is commonly used to express microprocessor clock speed. The unit is occasionally used in measurements or statements of bandwidth for high-speed digital data, analog and digital video signals, and spread spectrum signals. Other units of frequency are the kilohertz , equal to 1,000 Hz or 0.001 MHz, and the gigahertz , equal to 1,000,000,000 Hz or 1,000 MHz. / Many Analog and Digital Channels Cable TV typically transmits 125 6 MHz channels using frequency division multiplexing to its subscribers. Each channel can hold one analog TV program, three high-definition digital programs or 10 standard definition digital programs. |
