Definition of "multi-phase oscillator" |
an oscillator that provides m sinusoidal voltages shifted with respect to each other by 2π/m phase angle. It is obtained by connection of m similar isolated phase-shifting circuits in a loop. The outputs of isolating stages provide the required output voltages. These oscillators are usually used in instrumentation where lightweight auxilliary three-phase power supplies are required. Also called m-phase oscillator. |
