Definition of "Negative Feedback" |
Feeding a signal back to the input of an amplifier, or other circuit, that is proportional to the output signal, but having a phase that opposes the input signal. / Feedback in which a portion of a signal is returned to a previous section of the circuit and is out of phase with the input signal. Also called Degenerative Feedback. Negative feedback reduces the amplitude of the input signal by adding addig to the signal out of phase. / Negative feedback occurs when the result of a process influences the operation of the process itself in such a way as to reduce changes. Negative feedback tends to make a system self-regulating; it can produce stability and reduce the effect of fluctuations. Negative feedback loops in which just the right amount of correction is applied in the most timely manner can be very stable, accurate, and responsive. / Switched Multimegabit Data Service for is a wide area networking service designed for LAN interconnection through the public telephone network. SMDS is a connectionless service, differentiating it from other similar data services like Frame Relay and ATM. / a feedback signal 180° out of phase with an amplifier input signal. Used to increase amplifier stability, bandwidth and input impedance. Also reduces distortion. |
