Definition of "Ohm" |
Ohm is the measure of electrical resistance, or impedance, in a circuit. One volt will cause one amp to flow through one ohm of resistance. / The unit of electrical resistance. That value of electrical resistance through which a constant potential difference of 1 volt across the resistance will maintain a current flow of 1 ampere through the resistance. / named after German physicist Georg Simon Ohm, / SI unit of electric resistance. One ohm is equal to the electric resistance between two points of a conductor when a constant potential difference of 1 V, applied to these points, produces in the conductor a current of 1 A, the conductor not being the seat of any electromotive force. / unit of resistance symbolized by the Greek capital letter omega (W). |
