Definition of "Open Circuit" |
A circuit element which has an impedance approaching zero. / The condition of an electrical circuit caused by the breaking of continuity of one or more conductors of the circuit; usually an undesired condition. A circuit that does not provide a complete path for the flow of current. A circuit shall be considered as open circuited if halving the magnitude of the terminating impedance does not produce a change in the parameter being measured greater than the specified accuracy of the measurement. / Open circuit is the difference of electrical potential between two terminals of a device when disconnected from any circuit. / A circuit in which a wire is broken or disconnected. The absence of a direct connection between two points in an electrical network. / In general, to broadcast is to cast or throw forth something in all directions at the same time. A radio or television broadcast is a program that is transmitted over airwaves for public reception by anyone with a receiver tuned to the right signal channel. |
