Definition of "Overshoot" |
In the transition of any parameter from one value to another, the transitory value of the parameter that exceeds the final value. An initial transient over-voltage [or over-current] that exceeds the normal steady state value. It arises especially in the step response of bandlimited systems such as low-pass filters. It is often followed by ringing, and at times conflated with this latter. / In telecommunication, the term communication deception has the following meanings, Deliberate transmission, retransmission, or alteration of communications to mislead an adversary's interpretation of the communications. / the amount by which an output value momentarily exceeds the ideal output value for an underdamped system. |
