Definition of "Quantizing Distortion" |
Distortion that results from the quantization process. / Quantizing distortion in mathematics and digital signal processing, is the process of mapping a large set of input values to a countable smaller set such as rounding values to some unit of precision. A device or algorithmic function that performs quantization is called a quantizer. The round-off error introduced by quantization is referred to as quantization error. / In the seven-layer OSI model of computer networking, the physical layer or layer 1 is the first layer. The implementation of this layer is often termed PHY. The physical layer consists of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network. |
