Definition of "Radio Frequency Carrier Shift" |
The system that uses a keyer to shift a radio frequency signal above or below an assigned frequency. These shifts correspond to marks and spaces. / The transmitter provides a source of radio-frequency excitation. illustrates a basic frequency-shift keyed system. In modern systems, the keyer is built into the transmitter. The keyer shifts the signal box below or above the assigned frequency to correspond with the mark or space required to transmit tty characters. / Some systems directly interconnect using RS-422 signals, or RS-422 converters may be used to extend the range of RS-232 connections.
