Definition of "Response Time" |
The amount of time it takes for a device to react to an input signal. / The time a system or functional unit takes to react to a given input. The interval between the application of an input step function and the time when the output crosses the logic threshold voltage. An input step that drives a system from some initial, saturated input voltage to an input level just barely in excess of that required to bring the output from saturation to the logic threshold voltage. Note the output response time [t] from an input step function in the graphic to the right. / The time for a sensor to respond from no load to a step change in load. Usually specified as time to rise to 90% of final value, measured from onset of step input change in measured variable. / There is also the concept of perceived response time, which is the time a user senses as the beginning of input and the end of the response. It is actually possible though not usual for perceived response time to be too fast.it can be mildly disconcerting if a system responds almost instantly. However, this is not the usual complaint. / Response time is the time a system or functional unit takes to react to a given input. / In computing, timesharing is the sharing of a computing resource among many users by means of multiprogramming and multi-tasking. |
