Definition of "Reverse Bias" |
A dc voltage applied to a pN junction so that the positive terminal of the voltage source connects to the N-type material and the negative terminal to the p-type material. It produces reverse current in the circuit. / An external voltage applied to a diode or semiconductor junction to reduce the flow of electrons across the junction. Also called Back Bias. The bias which tends to produce current flow in the reverse direction (n-type semiconductor region at a positive potential relative to the p-type region). A voltage applied across a semiconductor junction in the reverse direction. / A dc voltage applied to a pN junction so that the positive terminal of the voltage source connects to the N type material and the negative terminal to the p type material. It produces reverse current in the circuit. / bias on a PN junction that allows only leakage current (minority carriers) to flow. Positive polarity on the n-type material and negative polarity to the p-type material. |
